During January 25 and 26, 2014, IUOE Local 115 took part in the fund raising efforts of Variety as part of their annual Show of Hearts Telethon.
The telethon raised $6,671,138 and is earmarked for children with special needs. Local 115 staff personally took in pledges of a little over $60,000 in just three hours.
Local 115 has been a long time sponsor and supporter of Variety The Childrens’ Charity. As part of the show’s live broadcast, Business Manager Brian Cochrane and President Wayne Mills were interviewed on Global BC as they presented a donation of $10,000 on behalf of Local 115. The money used for the donation was raised from the charitable events and industry contributions Local 115 gathers during every year to donate to Variety at the telethon.
